We think it is important that:
o Its all about the child
It is important to start from the child. What is she/he interested
in and what is her/his initial situation in the field of learning and
social-emotional development? We want to work child-centered. We
consider it important that we listen carefully to the children and take them seriously, so
they can develop optimally. This is based on the experiences of the child. We want to look
for the positive sides of the children and reinforce this.
Using this method, we want to equip them for secondary schools and society.
o Everyone has fun
Our school strives for everyone to frequently undertake joint activities with both students
and colleagues. Here we focus on both the business and socio-emotional aspects.
o There is a social commitment
We value social involvement, both at school and in the private sphere. Key concepts are:
o Empathic listening and compassion.
o Asking questions and showing interest and, if possible, finding solutions together.
o Learn to cooperate and help each other.
o stimulate social involvement.
o Anyone can develop.
We think it is important that everyone is given the opportunity to develop as well as
possible. Resources are:
o Taking courses, based in literature or peer consultation.
o A challenging learning environment offered by the school.
The condition for this is that both the teacher and student feel safe at school and at home.
o There is safety
Our actions are aimed at the pursuit of security both physically and mentally. We are
thinking about environmental hazards that can be identified and then be eliminated or
reduced as soon as possible. Regarding the mental aspect, we are working on a safe
atmosphere where honesty is central, we respect each other and we show understanding
and care for each other.
o Good communication exists
Communication between colleagues means that you listen to each other, let the other
person finish, ask detailed questions with an approach that is positive and, commitment /
empathic and serious. Teachers must serve as a good example by listening, showing
interest, letting the other person finish, asking for details and paying attention to body
language.
o One has confidence
At our school we have confidence in each other. This is evident from the honesty and
appreciation for each other. Appointments are kept. Things that are told in confidence,
are handled carefully.
o Everyone respects
It is important to have respect for each other. You listen to one another, you take each
other seriously, respect each other. We know that everyone is unique and different.
Further respect means for example that you: approach one another positively, talk
positive to and about other persons, approach issues seriously and provide space for
solutions. The teachers approach the children with a positive attitude and take them
seriously.
